A new
government elected in French Polynesia and this means new action to prevent
shark finning within the Polynesian national waters.
During the
Antibes World Festival of Underwater Picture, we organised a meeting with
people who want to act for the shark protection. There were tour operators,
journalists, famous marine photographers (Amos Nachoum, Kurt Amsler),
biologists, etc.
All of them
accepted to help us in this campaign by sending to all the people around
them an “Appeal to the Polynesian Government”. (See the attached letter).
This letter tells the world shark situation, the threats in French
Polynesia, and the measures we ask the Polynesian government to take
urgently.
The goal is
that as many people as possible sign this letter and send it directly to the
new President of French Polynesia so as to fill up his letter box ! We are
convinced that if thousands of letters arrive in the President letter box
from all over the world, we can have a strong impact on the President’s
decision.
