Our conservation efforts are focused on projects which contribute to our understanding of reef ecology, biodiversity, conservation and minimising human impacts on our marine resources.

Current Coral Sea projects are investigating dwarf minke whales, whitetip reef sharks, octopuses, nautilus, fluorescent corals, coral bleaching, water quality and more

OSPREY REEF
This proposal has been prepared for Environment Australia on behalf of Undersea Explorer as the first step in investigating options for having Osprey Reef declared a marine protected area.
The proposal provides a summary overview of the Reefs location, size, conservation values, threats, previous and ongoing research programs, and current patterns of use.

CORAL HEALTH
Reef Check is the largest international coral reef monitoring program involving recreational divers and marine scientists.
Reef Check is a  "community-based" survey program for the United Nations' Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network.

Identifying the capability of Great Barrier Reef corals to adapt rapidly to the warming of the oceans is part of the focus. The project investigates the distribution and abundance of fluorescent corals on the Great Barrier Reef. Since fluorescent pigments are often invisible in daylight, survey techniques using underwater UV-illumination are being used.
